Squiggly Line

July 24th, 2008

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid.
I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line,
it’s alright, you are forgiven.

Josh Hamilton - Home Run dream comes true

July 14th, 2008

Months after successfully overcoming drug and alcohol addiction and just before being reinstated by Major League Baseball, Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton had a vivid dream involving Yankee Stadium.

“I had a dream before I got back into baseball. … I was at a Home Run Derby and it happened to be at Yankee Stadium,” said Hamilton, who stepped foot into the House That Ruth Built for the first time Monday as the Rangers began a three-game set against the Yankees.

“It was kind of weird - Home Run Derby, Yankee Stadium,” he continued. “I didn’t see myself hit or anything. I just know that this lady came up to me right after I finished hitting, stuck a mic in my face and everybody in the Stadium got to hear the reason I was at the Home Run Derby and that’s because of what Christ did in my life and is still doing. Now it can possibly come true.” Read the whole story here.

And it did come true. Josh Hamilton broke the record for most homeruns hit in a round in the 2008 Home Run Derby. Then a lady came up to him right after he finished hitting, stuck a mic in his face and he gave all the glory to God. Truly amazing story.
